The Arbor Swimming Pool

Introduction
The Fairlington Arbor swimming pool is located in the geographical center of the Arbor, nestled behind courts 3, 5, and 6.  In addition to a large pool, there is a wading pool for toddlers, a grill for cookouts, and a ping pong table for the old and young alike.  The Arbor pool is open between the Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend and the Monday of Labor Day weekend.  In some years, when the budget permits, the pool may be open for the first few weeks of September as well.  Residents are notified of the pool operating hours in the weeks ahead of each pool season.  Professional lifeguards and a professional pool management company ensure a safe and healthy experience.  Note that the pool is for the exclusive use of Fairlington Arbor residents and their guests.  As such, all residents wishing to use the pool must obtain a pool pass at the beginning of each season.  Court representatives or the Management Agent will deliver a one-page form to each door that each resident must fill out and return in order to obtain a pass for the summer pool season.  Guest passes are also distributed.

To use the pool, all individuals/households must fill out a Resident Registration Form to receive Pool Passes.  If you don't receive a form or have just moved to the Arbor, request one at the Arbor Office.

Fairlington Arbor 2021 Pool Rules and Regulations
The following rules and regulations have been established for all persons' health, safety, and welfare using the Fairlington Arbor pool. We ask you to please read this form carefully so that you and all residents can have an enjoyable and safe experience during this season.

Hours
-The pool will open on Saturday, May 29, through the Labor Day holiday weekend. Pool hours will be Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
-The Pool Operator has the right to close the swimming pool due to inclement weather, emergencies, and/or when a situation requires closing. Notice of such closing, and the anticipated time of reopening, will be posted at the entrance to the pool.
-From Mondays to Sundays, the pool will open to all Arbor residents without the need for reservations.

Entry and Exit Procedures
-All Fairlington Arbor residents entering the pool facility must show their pool Passes 2021, issued by the management office during check-in.
-There will be no pool reservations for birthday parties or related events during the 2021 season.
-When exiting the pool, please look for the "POOL EXIT" sign.

Guests
-No more than five guests may accompany the Co-Owners or Tenants of a single unit.
-Guests are subject to the same rules as residents. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests at all times.
-Co-Owners and Tenants have priority for the use of the pool.  Guest admittance may be limited to ensure compliance with Arlington County Code, which requires one Lifeguard per 50 patrons.

Children
- Children nine years of age or younger are not permitted within the pool enclosure or swimming pool unless supervised by a parent/guardian responsible for the child.

- Children between the ages of 10 and 12 years who have passed a swimming test administered by the Pool Manager or have a Red Cross qualification card or equivalent document may remain in the pool enclosure and swimming pool unaccompanied. The Pool Manager may require swimming tests under any circumstances. Parents accept full responsibility for the behavior of their children.  The Lifeguard and Pool Manager have the authority at any time to revoke the privilege to be unaccompanied, after which the child will only be admitted to the pool with a parent/guardian.  Children between the ages of 10 and 12 who have not met the above criteria are subject to the same rules as children nine years of age or younger.

- Children 12 and older may bring up to two guests (age 12 and older), provided that they and their guests have also have passed the Arbor swimming test.

- Children who are not toilet trained are permitted in both pools, provided they are wearing cloth diapers and tightly fitting plastic pants or swim diapers. Disposal diapers must not be used as the gel substance pulls away from the lining and clogs the drain, preventing proper water filtration. These safeguards will aid in preventing human waste from being released into either pool, causing the pool to be closed for several hours. Parents must immediately notify lifeguards of any release of human waste into either pool.

-  Use of the wading pool is limited to children ages four and under. A parent or guardian must supervise children using the wading pool at all times. Lifeguards are responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the wading pool. Parents and children are responsible for picking up toys at the end of swim time to prevent the toys from being pulled into the drain, causing improper water filtration.

Other Rules
-All swimmers are required to shower before entering the pool.
-Persons with skin diseases, infectious diseases, open lesions, nasal or ear discharges, or inflamed eyes will not be permitted in the pool. Persons wearing bandages will not be permitted in the pool.

-Pool management and the Board of Directors are not responsible for personal articles left in the pool.

Enforcement
-The Pool Manager or lifeguard may expel any resident or guests for up to 24 hours for severe infraction of rules or disorderly conduct. Violations or disorderly conduct will be reported to the Arbor's General Manager and the Arbor Board for further action.  The Pool Manager and lifeguards have complete authority to manage the operation of the pool.
-The Arbor Board of Directors may withhold or suspend pool privileges from any resident for any violation of the pool rules.
-Suggestions, compliments, or comments about pool operations and requests for variance from these rules should be directed to the Fairlington Arbor management office.
